The home is positioned to take advantage of the dramatic views offered to and from the clearing with large picture windows framing longer vistas. The floor plan is a simple linear arrangement of spaces but curved in order to reduce circulation and orientate the open plan living room and the master bedroom towards these views. The compact home comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an open plan kitchen and living space.

The building is clad in colourful reclaimed timber, reused from an old timber shed structure that previously occupied the site. This shed in turn was originally built from timber that was cut from the surrounding woodland itself. This narrative of reusing locally harvested materials provides a strong connection with the woodland and its historic occupation to create a building that is truly of its place.

The new structure sits above the clearing touching the ground lightly. The timber cladding strips are haphazardly arranged to create a deliberately soft building edge allowing the house to float delicately above the landscape, blurring the home with the wildflower meadow clearing and the surrounding woodlands.
